Revlon PhotoReady Powder
I hardly know where to begin. I want to say “Can Revlon just not do powder?” because I wasn’t thrilled with this.
As I said, the PhotoReady powder/foundation combo is fairly new. I picked up both the liquid and the powder to try out. According to the packaging, “Perfected airbrushed skin in any light covers flaws and eliminates shine.” The jury’s still out for me on the liquid, but I can dispute that statement on the powder.
The first thing I did not like was that it comes with a brush. I just don’t believe you get the same level and uniformity of coverage with a brush that you do with a puff – I think makeup looks better when the powder has been patted on. I also don’t like brushes for touch ups. The one thing in a brush’s favor, if you have a good one, is that they are much easier to clean and keep clean than puffs are. This one isn’t a good one. That’s one thing for sure Revlon isn’t good at – brushes!
The second thing was the sheen. It’s not listed on the package, but this powder must be pretty mica-heavy. Not quite “sparkly vampire” skin (as my niece would say) but much more than I would like.
Third is the feel. It’s not quite as chalky as the ColorStay powder, but it’s close.
And last but not least, the wearability. It didn’t hold up very well over the course of the day. It wasn’t good at controlling shine. The touch up I did really didn’t help matters, and by the time I left work for my eye appointment, it was starting to visibly break down.
Bottom Line: It might perform better if used with a puff. It might perform better on drier skin. But my advice is to just skip it.
